What exactly is internal linking?
Internal links connect one page on a domain to another page on the same domain. Internal linking is an important component of on-page SEO strategy. It’s beneficial to Google because you can essentially tell Google how to crawl or navigate your website effectively. It is also advantageous to your users because if you have content pieces
In this regard, you can improve the user experience by directing visitors to relevant pages on your website. Concerning the topic they were just reading about.
So the question is, how should we incorporate internal links into our SEO strategy? Using generic anchor text, for example, don’t use here or click here because that doesn’t add relevancy to your internal linking.
The following are the significance of these links:
- These types of links are used for navigation.
- They create an information hierarchy for the specific website.
- They boost the ranking power of websites.
I’ve got various internal links to other service pages to make that distinction, as well as to help users on the site who are reading this content see the various services that I offer. In addition, I have various anchor texts linking back to my home page.
Strategy for internal linking
If you don’t have the right internal links in place, you don’t have a good website architecture. Then chances are you won’t see good results from SEO and all of your other hard work with content, keyword research, and onsite optimization. It won’t help much if you don’t have an internal link-building structure in place to help your site grow. So, with that, allow me to walk you through my three-step process.
Step One
The first step is to download and install a Word Press program that will allow you to add related posts to your site. And this will automatically add links all over your site, so you’ll have at least three internal links on every single page of your website.
Okay, so this is just the first stage of the blueprint. But it’s a quick victory. When it comes to internal link building, the 80/20 rule pretty much applies. So it will achieve 80% of the results with only 20% of the effort. It only takes a few minutes to download and install this. So you get this plugin and install it. Do you specify how many related posts should appear on each page? What will this do for every single article on your site? This will add three related posts to the page’s bottom.
So you suddenly have internal links to a lot more pages on your site. This isn’t a perfect method, which is why the other two steps in this blueprint are required. However, it will help jumpstart your internal link building and improve the architecture of your website as soon as possible.
2nd Step
The second step is to install a plugin called Link Whisper. This is a very powerful plugin that you can use to quickly determine which pages require more internal links, correct? Where can you find all of your internal links and minutes, and how can you limit Link Juice to only the most important links?
You can see the balance of internal versus external links, for example, right? So you can switch between them by clicking. You can also check your internal links on this page, which will give you a breakdown of which pages you have on your website. When they were published, how many inbound internal links there were, how many outbound internal links there were, and how many outbound external links there were.
Internal and External Links:
While you can scroll through the list and find a page, there are no outbound internal links, and it desperately needs some. So I’ll have to add some more. The same is true for this page, which has a few internal links but no outbound internal links. So I’ll have to add more there as well. As you scroll down, you can quickly see which pages require more internal, external, and outbound links.
You can also configure automatic link-building. I don’t use this feature much, but it is available. If you want to automatically link certain keywords to specific pages, simply enter the keywords here. As a result, it’s a very effective tool.
Now, we can return to the orphan post section by clicking on Link Whisper again. This is significant because if you have some pages on your site with no internal links, they are effectively orphaned. There is no way for Google to quickly crawl your site and determine which pages have internal links. Orphaned pages are what they’re called, and it’s a bad practice as a result, you can imagine that my site, for example, requires a lot more internal links to pages that don’t yet have any.
Orphan Links:
Eventually, you want to have a website with no orphan links because you want your entire website and internal architecture to be very connected, easy for Google to crawl, and ensure that Google understands exactly which pages are the most important for your site.
If you tried to do this manually, it would take a long time and be extremely difficult. That is why Link Whisper is such a powerful WordPress plugin. So I wholeheartedly endorse it. It isn’t that expensive per month, and it will save you hours of frustration. So it’s unquestionably worthwhile. Then you can go through all of the orphan links on your website, give them to your VA, and your virtual assistant can go off and add all of the internal links to the orphan pages.
3rd Step
the third and final step is to go in and manually add internal links where necessary on your site’s pages. And the thing is, while Link Whisper and Word Press plugins are fantastic tools, they aren’t perfect, which is why you need to manually add some internal links. This could be in the footer, navigation, or throughout your articles.
Remember that when it comes to internal link building, you’re trying to tell Google which pages on your site are the most important.
So, obviously, if you have money pages, sales pages, view articles, or any other type of pages that generate revenue for your site, you should internally link to them as much as possible. Simply because it will direct your authority and Link Juice to the pages that are most important to your site, and by doing so, you will drive more traffic and money to the pages that are most important to you.
Furthermore, not only will search engine traffic be directed here. If you can design your website so that all of your traffic is directed to your money pages. That works not only for SEO but also for people coming up on social media and other sources of traffic, essentially turning your website into a money-making funnel.
Internal Linking by Hand:
The other thing is that you should manually add links to the pages to which you are building backlinks, okay? So, when you build backlinks and use off-page SEO to get links to your site, you’re funneling Link Juice, also known as an authority, from other websites to your pages, correct?
What you can then do is funnel that Link Juice to other pages on your site so that they rank higher and have more authority, and the best way to do this is through internal link building. So go through all of the pages you’re currently linking to and identify where you can add internal links, which pages you need to link to, and basically map out the best ways to funnel authority from other sites to yours. Because if you do this, your money pages will rank higher on Google, increasing the profit of your website.
